2018! Cannot wait to start the year rolling with poet Sunny Rey at the Whistle Stop (30th Street and Juniper in South Park) on Jan. 17 at 9 p.m. I’ll be there, honored to feature and read poems with friends, supporting the opening of Sunny’s new book, “The Throw Aways,” and celebrating her birthday with music, poems, beverages and fundraising for Urban Street Angels and 8 West! Writers include Chrissy Croft, Natasha Hooper, Alfred Howard, Ted Washington and Chris Vannoy. Music by Courtney Hurley, Jedi Sugar, Joshua Lodge and DJ Luis the Beast.
Looking forward to the 52nd annual San Diego Local Authors Showcase, which opens Friday, Jan. 26 at the Central Library (at 330 Park Blvd. in downtown San Diego), featuring close to 300 San Diego County authors who published books in 2017. Following the opening I’ll be hosting a reception and authors’ reading from 7-10 p.m. in the Neil Morgan Auditorium, featuring keynote speaker Caitlin Rother and music by Camarada.
The San Diego Poetry Annual is almost complete. Looking forward to upcoming readings and celebrations, including our yearly SDPA show at the San Diego Art Institute on June 22.
