Fall for Writing, Poetry Karaoke, Acid Vault & upcoming P&A

On Saturday, Aug. 31, at 6 p.m., join hosts Judy Reeves and Steve Montgomery along with judges Michael Klam, Kristen Fogle, and Carol Moscrip for another lively session of San Diego Writers, Ink’s Open Mic Poetry Karaoke. Grab a binder filled with poems of all kinds—from Angelou to Yeats, Brooks to Whitman—and select the one you’d like to read. When your name is called, come on up and spin the Big Wheel of Musical Genres, then read your selected poem aloud to the beat of the music! Sign up to participate or simply come and enjoy the show.

The Ink Spot, 2730 Historic Decatur Rd., Barracks 16, Ste. 202, Liberty Station.

Poetry Karaoke is part of the Fall for Writing Conference, an annual event and fundraiser for SDWI. Attend all four days for $100 for members, $120 for nonmembers, or $20 per session.

Check out Poets Underground, an all-ages poetry open mic every Tuesday night at the Acid Vault, located in the basement of Amplified Ale Works, 1429 Island Ave., San Diego, CA 92101. Show starts at 8 p.m.

Michael Klam will perform there Oct. 29 with Sharon Elise.
