Michael Turner-Ortega

Daylight’s fall from grace

How shall I address this,
weaving in and out of usefulness
creating is a form of gratitude
a sojourn          a life of purpose
whatever.

For now the winds are calm
they just sneak upon the shore
sea birds vibrate in and out
of existence
the bay brings us to our knees.

Laughter comes out to play
the world is full
a nervous kid empties it
sometimes my walks are silent
can’t even remember how I got here.

Travels home into twilight
on another day I just sit and ponder
upon what gives me meaning
tomorrow’s not going to work
and yesterday didn’t happen.
